Do you know the feeling of staring into a fire for a long time? Perhaps it comes from a fascination with factory work, but for us, watching a lathe at work is equally mesmerising. The metal coming off the machines is shiny, intriguing, and… simply raw. This rawness is what we have captured in AQForm’s new brutal collection.
In a world where every surface can be painted, sometimes it’s worth pausing to appreciate the raw, freshly processed material. Fresh aluminium, still warm from production, shines with purity. When properly finished, it has a captivating surface that showcases every movement of the machine that just shaped it. This moment has been captured in the fixtures of the brutal collection, which are coated only with a thin layer of satin-clear protective lacquer.
Minimalism that fascinates
The brutal finish pays homage to the authenticity and rawness of the material. Every element in this collection remains in its natural state – the aluminium hasn’t been hidden beneath layers of paint, only protected from the passage of time and accidental damage. This allows what is usually only seen by machine operators to find a place in interiors.
The brutal collection includes carefully selected forms that best align with this raw finish: TRIBA, KLIVA, CONA, and OPTIMA. Each of these fixtures has a unique story told through its surface.
TRIBA, KLIVA, CONA, and OPTIMA – fixtures with character
TRIBA - In the brutal version, it reveals its history: a spun and then gently brushed surface that reveals each stage of the process, creating a unique effect combining industrial rawness with elegance.
KLIVA and CONA - These fixtures owe their subtle curves to the metal-spinning process, a precise method of shaping metal on a rotating disk. During this process, the metal is gradually shaped by tools, resulting in rounded, fluid forms. The spun edges are a testament to the craftsmen’s precision, who carefully gave them their final shape. Every mark of the process is visible on their surfaces, giving them a distinctive, raw character.
OPTIMA - It does not hide its purpose. This fixture is designed to perform tasks, not to join conversations about colour trends. In the brutal version, it is stripped of any embellishments, making it even more authentic and raw.
Every fixture in the brutal collection is coated with a clear satin lacquer. This protects the aluminium surface from corrosion and discolouration while being resistant to accidental scratches or fingerprints. This finish not only enhances the raw character of the fixtures but also ensures their longevity.
The brutal fixtures are more than just lighting – they are a statement of minimalism, authenticity, and respect for the material.
